An Odessa man accused of threatening to “blow” a hole in a woman with a shotgun earlier this month was arrested Friday on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, a woman called 911 around 7:30 a.m. July 2 and told police she drove around a slow moving vehicle on West County Road and entered into the turn lane at 6th Street.

The woman told officers that the driver of the slow moving vehicle got out, yelled at her, reached into his vehicle, pulled out a shotgun, racked it and said he’d “Blow one in you,” the report stated.

When she began taking pictures of him with her cell phone, the woman said he drove away, the report stated.

According to the report, officers were able to determine from her pictures that the car was from Johnston Motor Company and employees there identified the alleged gunman as Nathan David Bermea.

Bermea, who had an unrelated outstanding warrant, was pulled over on July 12 and a 20-gauge shotgun was found inside, the report stated.

He waived his rights and admitted to being involved in a disturbance that day. However, according to the report, he said he didn’t pull the shotgun. Then he said he may have grabbed it and put it back. Then he said he didn’t know if he grabbed it, but he knew he didn’t point it at anyone.

Bermea is being held on a U.S. Marshal’s hold and a $25,000 surety hold.
