CHICAGO — An 18-year-old woman turned herself in to Chicago police after her own mother recognized her as one of the people who attacked and robbed a man on the Orange Line downtown. Tamia Washington is the fifth person, but the first adult, to be charged with the robbery, which occurred around 11 p.m. on July 8.

Getaway vehicle found torched after fatal shooting of Chicago postal worker
CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago Police have found the Dodge Durango connected with the shooting death of a Chicago postal worker. However, it is unclear how much evidence they will be able to recover because that vehicle has been torched. Police found the Durango in the 8900 block of South Holland Avenue. Officers were on scene with the U.S. Postal Police, investigating the case involving 48-year-old Octavia Redmond's death. Coach Tara Backes's softball team apparently hasn't seen any serious competition so far at the State Tourney in Evergreen Park. Backes told us the 8 – 10 year old All-Stars beat Twin Rivers – in the earlier game – 10 – 0. Ekko Baima had a triple and eight out of eleven players provided hits. Quinn Holman pitched three innings and Maeve Brandt pitched one inning in the four inning game.

CHICAGO - Brookfield Zoo has announced the addition of several new animals, which includes emus, a sloth bear, and a puggle. In late June, three 3-month-old emus arrived at the Zoo. The one male and two females are adjusting to their outdoor habitat alongside kangaroos at Australia House. Emus, the second-largest birds in the world, are flightless and can sprint up to 30 mph, according to the zoo. The young emus have already gained 25% of their body weight in the past month.
