Details released on deadly three-vehicle crash on Route 531

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has released more details about a fatal crash involving three vehicles this morning on Route 531 in Ogden.

Deputies responded to Route 531 between Union and Washington streets at 6:42 a.m. for the crash.

A preliminary investigation shows two cars were traveling eastbound on Route 531 when they collided, causing one car to go off the south side of the road. The second car crossed the median into the westbound lane of Route 531, where it collided with a pickup truck traveling westbound.

The driver and sole occupant of the second car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver’s name was not immediately released, as deputies said shortly before noon that they are notifying the deceased driver’s family.

No other injuries were reported.

Traffic was shut down on westbound Route 531 between Union Street and Washington Street during the investigation. The road is now open, deputies said.
