Drive-In Movies for a Cause: Tonight Enjoy a Film and Contribute to Rome Capitol Theatre Tornado Recovery
ROME, N.Y. -- Drive-in movie night returns to the Rome Capitol Theatre, and this time, it's free of charge. The featured movies include the 1940s technicolor horror picture "Doctor Cyclops" and the 1957 sci-fi thriller "The Monolith Monsters." While admission is free, donations to the Capitol Theatre's GoFundMe are appreciated.
Free hygiene item giveaway in Rome Saturday
ROME — The Rome branch of the NAACP will hold a free hygiene item giveaway to people still struggling after the July 16 tornado, according to President Jaqueline Nelson. The giveaway will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today, Saturday, July 27, or until the items are gone in the parking lot of the Zion Episcopal Church at 140 W. Liberty St.

GreenUtica Garden Tour coming in August
UTICA — Local nonprofit GreenUtica announced a free community event, the GreenUtica Garden Tour, happening on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To take the tour, which is a driving and walking tour of home gardens in neighborhoods throughout the city of Utica, people can register at the GreenUtica office at 1641 Genesee St. in Utica. Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners will also be at the GreenUtica office to answer gardening questions and to share tick awareness information. Tour stops will have a sign on the front lawn to let tour-goers know they can visit their gardens in the front, side, or back yards.
