There is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms today, with the greatest concern late this evening into tonight across much of northern Ohio, according to the National Weather Service. Locally damaging wind gusts are the primary hazard with any severe thunderstorms.

In addition to possible thunderstorms, the National Weather Service said that peak heat index values are expected to be in the low to mid 90s today.

Occasional thunderstorm chances will continue Monday and Tuesday night ahead of an approaching cold front. Some thunderstorms may be severe, with strong winds the primary hazard. Locally, heavy rainfall will also accompany some storms. The greatest potential for severe weather and isolated flash flooding may be Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Peak heat index values may reach the mid to upper 90s both Monday and Tuesday, though timing of thunderstorms may influence this concern, according to the National Weather Service.

Weather spotters are encouraged to report significant weather conditions according to Standard Operating Procedures. Spotters should relay any information about observed severe weather to the National Weather Service.
