    Severe storm risk Monday in northern Ohio with damaging winds, torrential rain possible

    It could be a stormy and wet start to the work week in northern Ohio.

    The National Weather Service says there's a risk of severe thunderstorms across the region Monday afternoon.

    The culprit is a cold front that is heading toward the state.

    The biggest threat from the storms will be damaging winds, but torrential rainfall is also possible that could lead to some flash flooding.

    When will storms arrive Monday afternoon?

    The weather service says the showers and thunderstorms are expected to arrive in Greater Akron after 2 p.m. with the threat continuing through 10 p.m.

    Another round of potential severe storms is possible Tuesday.

    The threat of rain and storms hangs around through Wednesday before things clear out with sunny skies expected through the remainder of the week into the weekend.

    Temperatures for the week are expected to be more moderate with highs in the 80s and even the 70s by Sunday.

    What's the forecast?

    Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. West wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Monday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. West wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

    Tuesday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Northeast wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Wednesday: A slight chance of showers before 11 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Northeast wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

    Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61.

    Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.

    Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 64.

    Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.

    Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63.

    Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.

    Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.

    Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 78.
