    NW Expressway pedestrian bridge temporarily closed over ADA compliance issues

    OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) — The pedestrian bridge over NW Expressway near N Brookside Drive has been temporarily closed after a portion of the bridge was found not to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

    According to a social media post by the City of OKC on Tuesday, the closure is expected to last until early August, dependent on weather and other factors, as crews work to repair the non-compliant section.

    Construction on the bridge began back in November 2021 and was originally expected to be completed fall 2022. The completion date was then pushed back to summer 2023 .

    Pedestrians and cyclists are asked to use the traffic light crosswalk at NW Expressway and Brookshire Drive during the closure.
