Nashville Metro Offices to Close for Independence Day with Extended Break for Some Departments
Nashville residents and workers take note: the city is taking a two-day breather to celebrate Independence Day. According to an official announcement from the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, most Metro Offices will close on Thursday, July 4, in observance of the national holiday, and several are taking an extra day off on Friday, July 5.
Death investigation continues after human remains found near busy Middle Tennessee road
A death investigation is continuing in Hendersonville after human remains were found in a wood line near Vietnam Veterans Boulevard on Wednesday, police said. A Tennessee Department of Transportation subcontract worker discovered the remains in a small wooded area near New Shackle Island Road while picking up trash, according to a press release issued by the department.

Vanderbilt Volleyball Adds Two More Transfers
Vanderbilt volleyball head coach Anders Nelson announced the addition of Elli Kinney and Jackie Moore to its roster Thursday. Kinney, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, spent her freshman year at the College of Charleston before transferring to Vandy. A 5-foot-8 libero, she appeared in all 19 matches of her debut season, making four starts as a defensive specialist. During nonconference play, Kinney recorded double digit digs in seven of eight matches, spending much of that time as the starting libero. She ended her freshman season with the Cougars ranked second on the team in digs (211), digs per set (3.6) and service aces (15).
