County jobless rates rise across state
Cocke County, along with all 95 counties across Tennessee, saw its June jobless rate increase according to data released Thursday by the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development (TDLWD). According to the report, Cocke County’s unemployment rate saw an overall 22% increase going from a jobless rate of 3.5% in May to 4.5% in June. In 2022, the historic Ernest Tubb Record Shop announced it would close for business and sell the building. However, the shop recently announced some good news – as stated on social media, they said “We’re happy to announce that Ernest Tubb Record Shop is here to stay! Misguided Spirits’ James Zinkand, Co-founder, and Geena Zinkand, Partner, Marketing and Activations, were on-site to lead guests through an education and tasting of the line of artisanal spirits, ending with an industry happy hour with cocktails created by MeKayla Roy, Bar Manager, Union Kitchen, and the venue’s bar team. Launched in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2023 by Chad Wodskow and James Zinkand, Misguided Spirits is an employee-owned and -operated company specializing in craft spirits made by bartenders in honor of “misunderstood figures from the past.” The brand is distributed in Connecticut through Winebow.
