    Monkey found in Old Saybrook backyard has been re-homed to an out-of-state facility

    OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. (WTNH) — The monkey that was found in a backyard in Old Saybrook earlier this month has been re-homed.

    The marmoset variant was sent to the Beardsley Zoo after being found in a residential shed on July 1. After spending around two weeks in the zoo’s care, the monkey has now been re-homed to a permitted facility out of state, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).

    It is illegal to own a monkey in the state of Connecticut. No one has been charged in relation to this case.
