Power lines and a city street light were downed Thursday night in Olympia by a driver who then fled the scene.

The crash took place near the 1200 block of 22nd Avenue Southeast at around 11:20 p.m., according to a spokesperson for the Olympia Police Department.

Witnesses saw the accident occur before the suspect got out of the vehicle and ran away.

A Thurston County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit was dispatched to track the suspect, who was found shortly after the wreck in a nearby ravine, hiding in bushes.

The 33-year-old man was booked into jail on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.

It is unclear if any power outages occurred due to the crash.
