Hot Dog...The Movie Returns to Palisades Tahoe

Attention, snow enthusiasts and movie buffs; prepare yourself for the thrilling cinematic experience that is, Hot Dog…The Movie. Join Palisades Tahoe this Friday at the Olympic Valley Events Center to relive one of the greatest ski movies to grace our screens.

For some, Hot Dog is the defining movie that contributed to so much of Palisades’ culture and social scene, and probably inspired some of you Boomers and Gen X to follow your dreams as a ski bum. Take a nostalgic trip back to the 80s with high-octane action, love interests, and tomfoolery that’s sure to get you inspired for spring skiing.

Besides the partying, wet t-shirt contests, and humor that dates itself a bit, Hot Dog is remembered for producing some of the best ski scenes in movie history. The stunt doubles were mostly world-class freestyle skiers who went on to ski in Warren Miller movies.

Even Scott Gaffney, legendary Palisades skier and Matchstick Productions Producer, said, “The skiing in Hot Dog was legit.”

I mean just check out the Chinese downhill scene.

The film was directed by Peter Markle and stars David Naughton, Shannon Tweed, Patrick Houser, James Saito, and Tracy Smith, and the ski doubles include Robbie Huntoon, Dan Herby, and of course Debbie Dutton.

It’s $40 to get in the door and that includes commemorative 40th Year Anniversary Hot Dog gear, and there will be a Q&A panel with the folks that made it happen.

Don’t worry, there will be beer and wine. Doors open at 5:15.
