The weather on Saturday morning felt like a fall Saturday in the Bluegrass. That reminded many that football is right around the corner. Kentucky football also reached a significant checkpoint during training camp. The Wildcats had their first scrimmage and the early returns are very positive.

Brock Vandagriff to Dane Key for six, please.

KSR’s football crew shared some intel on how the scrimmage went at KSBoard on Saturday. Vandagriff had a good day at Kroger Field on Saturday and #PuntToWin could be returning to Lexington with UT Martin transfer Aidan Laros . Football is right around the corner.

We will have non-stop coverage throughout the week on how camp is developing. Mark Stoops shared that there was one significant injury that he was worried about and that should be officially released soon.

KSR Today is now here to set the table on this beautiful August Sunday.

Mark Stoops is not dodging NCAA violations

Kentucky opened camp with some surprising news. The NCAA decided to vacated all 10 wins from the 2021 season. The Kentucky Football and Swimming programs had been placed on two years of probation for Level II violations.

Mark Stoops spoke with the media for the first time since that news was released on Saturday. The Kentucky head coach says he is not dodging the punishment and that Kentucky is disappointed.

“I really can’t say much. I’m not trying to dodge it. But I mean, you’re disappointed because people did a lot of hard work to get to that place. And obviously, three years ago to now, things have changed dramatically. But it still doesn’t make it OK,” Stoops said Saturday afternoon.

“Mitch and Dr. Capilouto have commented on that. The NCAA has asked me not to say anything about it. I’m not dodging it. Heck, it was three years ago. I’m really worried about right now, you know what I mean?”

Kentucky football is ready to move forward but must remove any signage that acknowledges that Citrus Bowl victory over ranked Iowa.

Team USA beats France to claim gold medal on hardwood

Thanks to a terrific first-half performance from Devin Booker , Team USA didn’t need a last-ditch comeback effort to win this time around.

The United States took down France 98-87 in the Men’s Basketball gold medal game at the Olympics .

Thanks to a team-leading 13 first-half points from Booker, USA controlled France and won the country its fifth consecutive gold and 17th overall.

Booker finished with 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists in 27 minutes. Anthony Davis finished with eight points, nine rebounds, four blocks, and two steals in 20 minutes while Bam Adebayo chipped in two points and one rebound in nine minutes.

    NFL preseason finishes Week 1

Hard Knocks has started and starting quarterbacks are getting a series of work. Preseason football has arrived signaling that Sunday afternoons are about to be spent with Scott Hanson on NFL RedZone.

    Football is coming.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was the big story Saturday night as the former No. 1 overall pick made his return after missing the final seven games of the 2023 season with a wrist injury. The 27-year-old looked razor sharp completing 5 of 7 passes for 51 yards and leading the Bengals on a 12-play touchdown with Tee Higgins finding the paint in the first unit’s only series of work.

But Kentucky running back Ramon Jefferson scored the game-winning touchdown for the Bucs in the fourth quarter to give the NFC South franchise a road preseason victory.

Caleb Williams (Chicago Bears) and Jayden Daniels (Washington Commanders) made their rookie debuts and Josh Allen got some quick work for the Buffalo Bills. Two more games will take place on Sunday as our weekends are now going to be filled with football games on television. What a time to be alive.
