Rising 2027 prospect and Miami legacy Jyden German working towards earning offer from the Hurricanes: “I’ve been following in his footsteps since I was born”

If Fort Myers (Fla.) 2027 ATH Jyden German ’s name sounds familiar, you’re not mistaken. That is, in fact, the son of former Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Jammi German .

After a standout freshman campaign, Jyden is making a name for himself in the Sunshine State with offers from Syracuse, West Virginia, and USF. Although Jyden does not hold an offer from his father’s alma mater just yet, he is hoping to get the call for the Hurricanes soon.

“It would mean a lot considering my dad played there,” Jyden told CaneSport. “I’ve been following in his footsteps since I was born, so getting that offer would mean a lot, for sure.”

During his time in Coral Gables, Jammi was a standout wide receiver for the Canes before going on to be drafted in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons.

“He’s told me a lot about Miami,” Jyden said. “He came in the class with Ray Lewis and all those guys, and he’s also told me about Yatil Green, who was a first-round pick to the Miami Dolphins. He just told me it was a lot of hard work and how all those guys were dogs. Just kept their head down and worked. He tries to instill that in me.”

Since Jyden was younger, the 5-foot-11, 170-pounder has been a Miami fan, keeping a close eye on the program. Now heading into year three under head coach Mario Cristobal, he believes the Canes have what it takes to take that next step.

“It’s awesome,” Jyden said. “It’s all positive, it’s all it’s all hard work, and it has all the elements you need to become a winning program.”

While it still may be early in his recruiting process, Jyden knows what he’ll be focusing on as he navigates through the early stages of his recruitment.

“I look for a great coaching staff and a brotherhood,” Jyden said. “Guys I’ll call family because my dad still keeps in contact with his teammates from college. The process has been good, but it’s been hard getting acclimated because I’m so young. It’s really a blessing, so I’m going to keep working and stay humble.”

    CaneSport’s take

Earlier this week, CaneSport got its first look at Jyden, and it’s easy to see why a handful of collegiate programs have offered the rising sophomore early on. Jyden is a twitchy athlete who has the potential to play on either side of the ball at the next level. While the Hurricanes’ offer may not be on the table just yet, don’t be surprised if he receives it soon.
