Fort Myers (Fla.) four-star defensive lineman Kendall Guervil has blossomed into a top-175 prospect in the 2026 class with several Power 4 offers. Among that growing list is Florida’s Big Three: Miami, Florida, and Florida State.

Heading into his junior year, the Hurricanes and Gators are near the top of Guervil’s list of programs.

“They’re all good schools, especially Miami and Florida,” Guervil said. “Every time I go to those schools, they treat me like family. I love their defensive line coaches at each program.”

Earlier this summer, the 6-foot-4, 265-pounder camped in Coral Gables, where he had the chance to work hands on with Miami defensive line coaches Jason Taylor and Joe Salave’a .

“When I camped in Miami, I learned a lot of stuff there, and it was great,” Guervil said. “Coach Taylor and coach Joe taught me a lot of things. They both worked with me the whole time. I came back with some of the things they taught me, and I’m using it at practice and also showing my teammates and teaching them.”

Since Guervil left South Florida, communication with the Hurricanes has remained consistent, which has continued to pique his interest in the in-state program. During the 2023 season , the blue-chip defender recorded 49 tackles (26 solo), 5.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, and two forced fumbles for the 8-3 Green Wave.

“It’s great, and they’re hitting me up almost every day,” Guervill said. “Me and coach will FaceTime as well as coach Taylor and the rest of the coaches talk for hours.”

On August 31, Guervil, who is the No. 172 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the On3 Industry, will be in Gainesville for Miami’s matchup against Florida. With two of his top programs set to duke it out, Guervil will be excited to see who comes out on top.

“I’ll definitely be at that game, and let’s see who comes out on top,” Guervil said. “I think it would have a decent impact on my view of the team that wins. It’s not going to completely change if I like a certain school more.”

    CaneSport’s take

Miami has done a great job of making Guervil feel wanted in Coral Gables, which is why he is so high on the program. On Aug 31st, he will be one of the many recruits on hand who are high on both the Gators and the Hurricanes, which is shaping up to be a pivotal matchup both on the field and the recruiting trail.
