Michigan has offered two in-state prospects in the 2028 recruiting class. Both reside in the Detroit area, including Harper Woods High athlete Deandre Bidden .

The Wolverines were one of the first Power 4 teams to enter the mix for Bidden earlier in the offseason during the spring evaluation period. So far, Bidden has visited Ann Arbor three times, most recently for last month’s annual BBQ at The Big House.

“I liked it,” Bidden told The Wolverine . “It was the first time ever I went to the BBQ.”

Before the barbecue, Bidden traveled to the stadium with his Harper Woods teammates for a 7v7 event. He also attended spring camp practice as part of Sound Mind Sound Body. All three trips allowed him to get a feel of the resources that Michigan players are allotted throughout their careers.

“The facilities and the campus, I liked it,” Bidden said. “It was a good college experience.”

The incoming freshman also participated in training instruction that Ron Bellamy oversaw at the barbecue.

“I loved the workout,” Bidden said. “It helped me more on my game, and I believe I did good but I can do better.”

Constructing a foundation for a close relationship is being done between Bidden and Bellamy. The latter is Michigan’s area recruiter in Detroit and its suburbs. Bidden also met with head coach Sherrone Moore a little more than two weeks ago.

“I love Coach Bellamy’s coaching,” Bidden said. “He makes you feel welcomed. All the talks were good (with Moore).”

As one of the perennial juggernauts locally, Harper Woods produced Michigan freshman defensive back Jacob Oden , the cousin of 2027 athlete Dakota Guerrant . Bidden and Guerrant, who also has a U-M offer, are part of a high-powered offense that’ll be part of Harper Woods’ MHSAA Division IV state title defense this season.

Bidden doesn’t have a set date for when he’ll be back in Ann Arbor again, but it could be soon, as his interest in the reigning national champions is increasing.

“They will be great this season and still will get better from there,” Bidden said. “I can look up to them to get better. I really like Michigan, and I will return.”

The Wolverines have the early lead for Bidden on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

At 5-foot-11, 167 pounds, Bidden is not yet listed on the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four primary recruiting media services.

Along with Michigan, Bidden holds notable offers from Michigan State, Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi State, and Indiana.
