Georgia hit the practice fields on Thursday and it will probably be the Bulldogs’ final practice before the final scrimmage. Typically Kirby Smart holds more of a walkthrough on the day before a scrimmage to give players a chance to recover physically and mentally. DawgsHQ has gathered some intel from Thursday’s practice and we share it with you below.

*** The good news comes in fours today. I’m told that Warren Brinson has been doing more and more as the week has gone on and was moving around really well on Thursday. The Georgia super senior has been dealing with an achilles.

The same can be said for starting center Jared Wilson , who has also been dealing with an achilles injury. I’m not sure how many, if any, 11-on-11 reps he has gotten this week but he is doing individual drills and wearing a regular red jersey. I’ve spoken with a couple of sources this week who expect him to get a few series in the scrimmage on Saturday.

There’s also some positive news on sophomore Roderick Robinson (toe). He is no longer wearing the walking boot and is now conditioning on the side in practice. One source told me that he was wearing a black-non contact jersey. I’m told that he was initially expected to be in the boot a little longer than this.

Lastly on the injury front, it sounds like senior outside linebacker Chaz Chambliss (soft-tissue injury) is ramping back up. I’m told he will absolutely be limited in the scrimmage on Saturday and it won’t be a surprise if he doesn’t scrimmage at all, but he’s back doing individual drills and full-speed contact work in practice.

*** I’ve spoken someone close to the program recently who told me excited they are about Georgia’s run game in 2024. My first response to hearing that was to mention the running backs and how good they have looked. That’s certainly part of it but the physicality of the Bulldog offensive line plays a big part in it, too. Rusty and I have both mentioned this but there are folks inside that facility who believe this is the best interior group of offensive linemen since Smart got the job.

Now, with that said, the conversation did turn back to running back where, once again, Nate Frazier ‘s name came up. I’m starting to believe that he can stay healthy and continue to grow within the offense throughout the season, he’s going to be playing 20-30 snaps per game in November and the post-season. I expect Georgia to be a little more cautious with him early on and work him into the plan each week. It can afford to do that so long as Etienne and at least one of the Robinsons are healthy.

One more thing with the running backs. I’ve heard enough about Branson Robinson at this point to not be surprised by anything he does against Clemson. Frazier gets most of the buzz but I’m told that Branson Robinson has put together a really, really good camp.

*** I’ll wrap up with a note on Carson Beck , a guy we just haven’t talked about much this preseason and we all know why. Expectations are high and nothing that happened in camp was going to change that. I had one source reach out to say how the ball just jumps out of his hand. Whether it’s more confidence in letting it rip or some strength added in the offseason, Beck is turning heads with the zip he is able to generate and with accuracy.
