Gage Larvadain is no stranger to being the new guy on the team. He’s now on his third school at South Carolina after spending time at FCS Southeastern Louisiana and then Miami-Ohio last year.
Now getting a chance to move up to the SEC, this will be a big year for the senior wide receiver.
“It’s been a really good adjustment for sure,” Larvadain said. “Being a two-time, well three-time transfer, it’s my third university, so I got kind of used to it last year. So it hasn’t been too difficult.”

Coming to South Carolina, Larvadain was thrown into a wide receiver room full of talent and competition. From Larvadain’s perspective, these receivers are hungry to help each other get better.
“As far as it’s been with the wide receiver room, I mean we got a group of guys who are all hungry,” he said. “So it makes it easy to go out there and compete when you got a group of guys who are just so eager to go out there and help each other get better.”
Despite all competing for the same starting roles, the receivers hold each other to high standards for the benefit of the team.
“We are all out there going to compete at the end of the day,” Larvadain said. “We’re growing together as people outside of football but I mean it’s a healthy competition in every room. We all going out there and just competing and just being the best version of ourselves so ultimately the team can be the best version of themselves.”

Before South Carolina, Larvadain also gained experience returning punts, making him a versatile addition to the wide receiver room. At Miami-Ohio, Larvadain recorded 55 yards in five punt return attempts last year. Having the ability to do more than just catch passes should help him see some action this season.
“Like I said there’s a lot of guys back there as well,” Larvadain said. “We’re all fighting for that job as well. I’m a part of that fight so you know the coaches, Coach (Shane) Beamer and the rest of the staff, they’re going to put the guy back there who they think is best fit to help the team ultimately win.”
