Miami Hurricanes offer No. 7 recruit, No. 1 ATH in 2026 class: “Who wouldn’t want to be out there?”

Landing a Miami offer wasn’t a surprise for No. 7 overall prospect and No. 1 ATH Brandon Arrington , but the Hurricanes still piqued the four-star 2026 prospect’s interest when they pulled the trigger.

Miami wasted little time offering the La Mesa (Ca.) Mount Miguel prospect this past week ahead of the start of the 6-foot, 180-pound athlete’s junior season as the Hurricanes begin to slowly work on their 2026 class, and Arrington said he has interest in visiting Coral Gables this fall. Recruiting coordinator Joe Brown called Arrington in school Tuesday to quickly extend the offer and only spoke to the speedster for a few minutes, although their conversation was enough to capture Arrington’s attention.

Miami did not mention which position at which it hoped to recruit Arrington, who lines up as a receiver, cornerback and returns punts, but loved his speed. Arrington runs a sub 10.3-second 100M dash and hopes to play football and run track in college.

“(Brown) said he watched my film, and I’m a speedster on and off the field,” Arrington said. “My speed showed on the field, my ability just playing the game. He said development is big to them, and he said I look like I’m already developed, but there are still things to work on.”

Arrington said he had a feeling the Hurricanes would offer him eventually and assumed the phone call he received from a Miami area code was likely the Canes’ staff reaching out to extend the offer. He said he knew Miami liked to offer speedsters from Florida and figured the Canes would eventually offer him too.

“Miami is a nice place,” Arrington said. “Who wouldn’t want to be out there? I know the history, guys like Ray Lewis went there, Sean Taylor , I know he went there. I know a lot of athletes went there. I grew up watching documentaries and football history and stuff like that, and they always talked about Miami.”

Texas A&M, USC, Oregon, Alabama, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Tennessee have all captured his attention early, although he doesn’t feel close to making a decision. Arrington said he wants to wait to see which other schools offer him and determine which programs would be okay with him playing football in the fall and running track in the spring.

Miami historically hasn’t had a ton of success recruiting West Coast players given the distance from Florida, but if the Canes feel they have a legitimate chance to nab an elite blue-chip prospect, they won’t hesitate to send the house.
