Former Ole Miss players now NFL Rebels were the talk of the second weekend of the preseason both on and off the field, each in positive light.

Currently, and according to ESPN’s list, there are 37 former Rebels now on a NFL roster and trying to survive the cuts that take place in August.

On Saturday the Baltimore Ravens became the Ole Miss show with Dayton Wade and Tavius Robinson providing highlights and game-saving plays. For Wade, the game was another step closer to securing a roster spot.

Wade had two catches for 67 yards, including a 56-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Emory Jones that served as the winning score. Through two preseason games Wade has six catches for 94 yards and a touchdown.

Robinson continues to thrive with the Ravens. In the final seconds of the game on Saturday he made tackle to stop the Falcons on a two-point attempt to preserve the one-point win.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh had praise for both the former Ole Miss players.

“I’m proud of the guys. Tavius made the big (defensive) play — the two-point play — which was great to see,” Harbaugh said. “D-Wade making the touchdown catch. Just a great throw. All of it’s been really, really good in terms of those plays right now.”

Robinson has two solo tackles in preseason action and his overall play had Harbaugh continuing to heap praise on.

“It is. It’s big,” Harbaugh added. “Obviously, when you’re successful with something, it gives you confidence. The next step is to be successful throughout the game and look at it play by play and see where you’re successful and where you need to work, but it’s very meaningful for the guys. Those are the guys.”

Continuing the big day on Saturday was Detroit Lions’ Isaac Ukwu recording a sack in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs .

Ukwu was picked up by the Lions as an undrafted free agent (UDFA) but has impressed head coach Dan Campbell through the first two preseason games. He has three solo tackles and a pair of sacks.

“He’s caught our eyes. Everyday he makes a play,” Campbell said last week of Ukwu . “He’s not 100 percent healthy right now but he’s out there practicing and he just keeps going and it’s not really slowing him down.”
