16 Longhorns make the Reese’s Senior Bowl’s preseason watch list

Almost 900 prospects were added to the Reese’s Senior Bowl preseason watch list, the Senior Bowl announced on Wednesday. Sixteen of those selections were members of the Texas Longhorns football program.

The sixteen that earned recognition included some underclassmen as early declarations can now play in post-season All-Star games. That means third-year players like Isaiah Bond and Kelvin Banks were eligible for the list.

Other Longhorns along with Banks and Bond to earn recognition were Bert Auburn , Jahdae Barron , Silas Bolden , Vernon Broughton , Alfred Collins , Hayden Conner , Quinn Ewers , David Gbenda, Gunnar Helm , Jermayne Lole , Jake Majors , Trey Moore , Andrew Mukuba , and Barryn Sorrell .

Last year, T’Vondre Sweat and Christian Jones were the only Texas football players to head to Mobile, Ala. to participate in the Senior Bowl, though other Horns like Jordan Whittington were invited.

Texas players have made names for themselves at the Senior Bowl in recent years. Sweat’s weight was a question he answered during the event. Jones solidified his draft status as well before the Arizona Cardinals selected him. Even before that, DeMarvion Overshown posted a quality performance in Mobile.

The Longhorns’ 16 watch list members were not the most from a single team. That honor went to Ole Miss, who had 21. Texas A&M and Georgia, two teams on the Longhorns’ 2024 schedule, had 20 on the watch list. Alabama boasted 19, while Ohio State and LSU had 18 each.

Senior Bowl invites will go out over the course of the 2024 season. The 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl will be in Mobile, Ala. once again and kick off at 1:30 p.m. Central on February 1, 2025. NFL Network will air the exhibition.
