The high school football season is right around the corner and to build up the anticipation, Lettermen Row is going to roll out a primer for every Ohio State commit. There are 24 pledges to the Buckeyes’ 2025 class and we will discuss things we want to see from the commits, and one big game for the pledge. This is story No. 21 .

COLUMBUS — Ohio State has built back its defensive back reputation of ‘BIA’ — Best in America. You look at the secondary the Buckeyes had last fall and the one they are going to field this year, and it’s easy to say that.

But the future of BIA is in good hands too, thanks to the work of cornerbacks coach Tim Walton. The former Buckeye hit the ground running on the recruiting trail when he arrived and the results speak for themselves. In 2025, he got things started off with a major commitment. Five-star Plus+ Houston (Texas) North Shore cornerback Devin Sanchez . Walton did what Walton does. He added another five-star.

Five-star Plus+ Birmingham (Ala) Parker cornerback Na’eem Offord committed to Ohio State in February. The No. 9 overall prospect and No. 3 cornerback in the On3 Industry Rankings has taken a bit of a world tour since that verbal pledge. But he has maintained his status that he’s going to be an Ohio State Buckeye.

Before he gets to Ohio State, however, he has to play his final season of high school ball. Lettermen Row lists out a few things we’re eager to see from him. We also highlight one big game on his schedule.

    Things to Watch

Much like we wrote about with Devin Sanchez, Na’eem Offord is as polished of a high school prospect as they come.

Offord is the No. 1 prospect in Alabama, which means he’s the best player in Alabama. Not to repeat ourselves, but with that ranking and expectation comes the need and ability to back that up every time the game uniform is on.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day is quick to say you can’t have a bad day at Ohio State. That trickles down to its commits, which means that’s the case for Offord this fall.

    One Big Game

The big game on Na’eem Offord’s schedule stands out like a sore thumb. On Sept. 20, Offord and Parker High will host Carrollton (Ga) High School. Yes, the same high school that’s home to four-star quarterback and USC commit Julian Lewis .

Every single snap, Offord will have the opportunity to showcase why — should both commitments hold — that Lewis’ USC career could be challenging against a promising Ohio State secondary. Lewis has already played this fall. He went 9-15 for 126 yards, three touchdowns but one interception.

How sweet would that be if Offord picked off one of the most talked about quarterback prospects of the 2025 cycle? We’ll be paying attention to that game from afar.
