Good morning, folks! We no longer have to play the “How many days until college football is back?” game. Today, we’re all winners. Week 0 has arrived.

The 2024 season officially begins later today, but with a twist — Dublin, Ireland is our host site for the season-opener between No. 10 Florida State and Georgia Tech. Kickoff is at noon EST on ESPN and is the first of four FBS games set throughout the day. Unfortunately, there aren’t any other Top 25 teams involved in today’s matchups, but you can comfortably sit on your couch knowing that you don’t have to go another Saturday without a football game for a while.

As for the other CFB games on the schedule today, we’ve got Montana State vs. New Mexico at 4:00 p.m. EST (FS1), SMU vs. Nevada at 8:00 p.m. EST (CBSSN), and Delaware State vs. Hawaii at midnight EST. We’ll then take a break from games until Thursday when the season really gets into swing. KSR’s Adam Luckett has a cheat sheet for today’s games right here for you.

Our own Kentucky Wildcats will take Kroger Field one week from today when Southern Miss comes to Lexington. This video should help get you in the football mood.

The football season in the Bluegrass technically started last night though…

    Kentucky high school football returns

Over 100 games across the state opened up the 2024 high school football season on Friday night. We’ve got another 16 games on the docket for today, including the KSR Game of the Week between No. 3 Frederick Douglass and No. 4 Bowling Green . Piper McCoun — our western Kentucky representative — will be at WKU’s stadium for the 8:00 p.m. EST kickoff, along with the game that precedes it: No. 1 Boyle County vs. No. 20 Lexington Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. EST.

As for last night, KSR made stops at a handful of games with Phoenix Stevens covering No. 9 Corbin’s 22-7 win over No. 17 Pikeville and Daniel Hager reporting on No. 2 Trinity’s 28-10 rolling of No. 15 Bryan Station . Meanwhile, I made my over to Paris, KY to watch Javeon Campbell and Western Hills in a 46-0 win over Bourbon County . Campbell is a four-star defensive lineman who committed to Kentucky in July. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound senior was the biggest and most dominant player on the field and had plenty of good things to say about the Wildcats. I’ll have more on him later today.

Oh, I also popped over to Paris High School for a quick second to check out the new orange field they debuted. It’s… definitely orange.

Mark Pope took the guys to Hazard

After a brief break from summer practice, the Kentucky men’s basketball team returned to campus this week to prepare for the start of fall practice and the semester on Monday. But before they could settle back into the Wildcat Coal Lodge, new head coach Mark Pope had something special planned.

Pope took his team to Hazard, KY for a community service project where they put down the basketballs and picked up the hammers. They also hosted the Community Cookout at Perry County Park in partnership with Club Blue NIL. 1958 national champion and former Wildcat, Johnny Cox, now 87, was also there and he got to sit down with Pope for a quick chat.

    Six Wildcats named Preseason All-SEC

Long after the media members made their Preseason All-SEC selections, it was time for the coaches to do the same. Those ballots were released earlier this week and included six Kentucky Wildcats, including three on the First Team. Eli Cox, who didn’t crack any of the media’s teams, made the coaches’ Third Team.

Georgia led the way with 15 All-SEC picks while Alabama was second with 12 and newcomer Texas in third with 10. A dozen of the league’s 16 teams had at least one First-Team representative, Georgia boasting five of them. Kentucky was one of nine schools with multiple First Team picks.

Come watch Kentucky football play 4 games with us

Simulated games, that is. Yesterday over on our YouTube channel , we livestreamed Kentucky’s first four games of the 2024 season through the new video game, EA Sports College Football 25 . It didn’t exactly go as we had planned — the folks at EA must have some beef with the Wildcats. Kentucky opened the season with a close win over Southern Miss before getting drilled by South Carolina in game two. UK put up a much better effort against Georgia after that, but still lost and then needed two overtimes to beat Ohio.

I know that I’m making a very compelling argument for you to come and watch the next four games with us throughout the day, but we shared plenty of laughs and jokes in the chat. It was a good way to distract myself whenever I had some time to pop onto the livestream and see what was going on. Come join us as Kentucky looks to bounce back in its first road game of the season.

We’ll restart the stream this morning around 11:00 a.m. EST for the next four games: @ Ole Miss, vs. Vanderbilt, @ Florida, and vs. Auburn.
