What a moment it was last night at Daytona. Harrison, the son of Jeff Burton, wins his first career NASCAR Cup Series race at the perfect time. The young Burton isn’t sure what his future holds in the sport, but he will always have the Coke Zero Sugar 400 .

At 23 years old, Harrison Burton has time to get back to the Cup Series, if that is what he wants to do. But for now, he should take in this Daytona victory for all that it is worth. Really stretch out the celebration.

Of course, the best part of the whole ordeal was hearing Jeff Burton. He kept quiet as the last two laps played out, but inside the booth he was losing his mind. Seeing his son finally break through at the top level of the sport, it was a big deal.

With Leigh Diffey on the call, “Jeff, your little boy has done it!” this reaction from Jeff is too perfect. A huge fist pump in the booth as the 21 car crosses the line .

It feels like Ned Jarrett calling Dale Jarrett to the line. Darrell Waltrip in the booth as his brother Michael wins the Daytona 500. NASCAR is a family sport, it always has been. Now we have Jeff Burton calling his son Harrison to the win. Or at least being in the booth.

This was a major win for Wood Brothers Racing as well. Yes, they are moving on to Josh Berry in 2025. Even if this win had come earlier in the season, I think Wood Bros would want to move on at this point.

We can’t forget that Harrison Burton was 34th in points before last night. Meanwhile, Josh Berry is in a tight Rookie of the Year battle and has a lot of promise in the Cup Series. Still, Harrison will always have win 100 for the 21 car.

Of course, this win changes things. There is one less spot in the playoffs up for grabs. Chris Buescher holds a 21-point lead over Bubba Wallace for that final spot as of right now. With only Darlington remaining, things could get intense next week.

Harrison Burton leaves Daytona a winner in the NASCAR Cup Series. He joins his dad Jeff Burton and uncle Ward Burton as a winner at Daytona. The Wood Brothers back in victory lane and back in the NASCAR Playoffs.
