It’s officially football season and most of our attention is on the gridiron, but it’s also been a busy couple of weeks for women’s basketball. Get caught up on what you might have missed.

The Gamecocks returned to campus last week. They are still in summer workouts – officially preseason practice is still about a month away – but the players are basically back for good since classes have started. You know things are getting serious because last week’s Final Four Friday was the notorious Colonial Life Arena stair climb.

    Turning to potential future Gamecocks…

Last week there were two invite-only camps for high school prospects. The SLAM Summer Classic was at Rucker Park in New York on August 21 and the Mamba League Invitational took place in Los Angeles from August 23-24. Top recruits in multiple classes were invited.

With the recruiting shutdown over and Dawn Staley back in the country, South Carolina sent out a flurry of offers last weekend. Offers went to Kaelyn Carroll , Ivanna Wilson Manyacka , and Nation Williams .

Those prospect bios are for subscribers only. If you aren’t a subscriber, now is a good time to take advantage of our limited-time offer and get access to women’s basketball, football, baseball, and men’s basketball coverage.

2025 Columbia native Lauren Jacobs, who picked up a Gamecock offer recently, announced her top 10 this week. The list is Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Marquette, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech. She made sure to clarify that she listed the programs in alphabetical order.

No recruits have announced official visits to South Carolina yet, but expect those to happen over the next two months.

Also, in case you missed it, the Gamecocks and the South Carolina Department of Transportation unveiled the new 2024 national championship highway signs . They will be installed over the next month.
