Motorcycle convoy stops in Onalaska to raise funds for veterans

ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) -- A motorcycle convoy stopped in Onalaska Thursday to support veterans.

The Great American Convoy is a motorcycle journey that raises money and awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project.

On their more than 2,000-mile ride from Upstate New York to Western Montana, the bikers will be making fundraising stops at Harley Davidson dealerships.

On Thursday, the convoy stopped at the Great River Harley Davidson in Onalaska.

The convoy's leader said it's great to see riders from all over the country come together in support of veterans.

"Some people come just for one day, one stop, other people come for multiple days, even weeks or months. It's really an amazing experience to share the road with all these riders.  I like to tell people I'm like Forrest Gump running all across America, only I'm riding a motorcycle and people are joining me on their bikes as well," said Adam Sandoval.

The Great American Convoy has raised around $73,000 so far, with an ultimate goal of $200,000.
