PICK A PET: Rosie, Baby and Myrtle
Baby is looking for someone to love her not just for her looks, but for who she is as well. If you want a quiet companion who just loves to be near her person, Baby is your girl! When she comes up to you, Baby enjoys soft pets. That being said, Baby is a bit shy at first, but if you are patient and give her the time that she needs she is sure to warm up. Baby is 9 years old, so the shelter staff would love her to find a comfortable home that she deserves, as the shelter life can be difficult for older cats. Baby has been spayed, dewormed, and flea treated and also is up to date with all of her vaccinations. This week we are featuring an adult cat, but the Humane Society of Rome is currently celebrating Kitten Madness, and is holding a special for half-off adoption fees on our kittens. To visit Baby, stop by the Humane Society of Rome, 6247 Lamphear Road, call 315-336-7070 or go to www.humanesocietyrome.com .

Caz Counterpoint to remember its tireless champion, Neva Pilgrim
Neva Pilgrim, recognized as the driving force behind Cazenovia Counterpoint, will be present only in memory this summer. Her death in January left a void in the arts community of Central New York, where she spearheaded the festival and Syracuse Society for New Music, which sponsors it. To honor her legacy, Cazenovia Counterpoint, which takes place in multiple village venues throughout July, will maintain its traditional focus on all the expressive arts and will continue Pilgrim’s emphasis on showcasing new talent.
Lorenzo State Historic Site’s Garden And Dark Aisle
For centuries, ornamental gardening was a popular upper-class pastime. But by the early 1800s, recreational gardening was fast becoming an integral part of life for all. In keeping with the prevailing idea that the glory of nature should be brought indoors, large homes often featured greenhouses, urban dwellings installed window boxes, and floral and plant motifs were popular for interior decorating.
