Voters to decide on tax to replace Jackson County’s aging downtown jail
JACKSON COUNTY, MI – A public safety millage to remodel and upgrade the Jackson County jail on Chanter Road is back on the ballot Aug. 6. The millage, revised and reduced since voters rejected it in 2022, calls for 0.9 mills collected from all property taxes in Jackson County for a term of 20 years to provide funding for public safety services and remodeling and upgrading the jail in Blackman Township.
