WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Police are asking for the public’s help investigating a shooting on a Washtenaw County freeway. A road rage incident led to shots fired between a black Equinox and a black Charger around 4 p.m. Thursday, July 18, on eastbound I-94 near M-52 in Sylvan Township, Michigan State police said in a release.

WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Three Democrats are vying for the position of Washtenaw County sheriff in the Aug. 6 primary election. Alyshia Dyer, a social worker and former county sheriff’s deputy; Derrick Jackson, the sheriff’s director of community engagement; and Ken Magee, a consultant who once led the University of Michigan public safety department, are seeking to replace current Sheriff Jerry Clayton, who announced in 2022 he would not run for reelection. Jackson approves $4.5M contract to replace outdated pipes in city water system
JACKSON, MI - A project to improve the quality and flow of water underneath Jackson’s streets is ready to move forward. The Jackson City Council on Tuesday, July 16, approved a tentative construction contract of about $4,599,516. ‘It’s time’: Ann Arbor City Council passes resolution to conduct feasibility study on reparations for Black residents
The Ann Arbor City Council unanimously approved the DC-4 resolution to evaluate the feasibility of a municipal reparations program for Black Ann Arbor residents at a meeting June 18. The resolution directs the City Administrator to determine a source of funding for the study, which will report on the feasibility and structure of the proposed program by December. Additionally, the study will provide an impact report concerning the historical discrimination against the Black community that the program should address.
