Road rage leads to shooting on I-94
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Police are asking for the public’s help investigating a shooting on a Washtenaw County freeway. A road rage incident led to shots fired between a black Equinox and a black Charger around 4 p.m. Thursday, July 18, on eastbound I-94 near M-52 in Sylvan Township, Michigan State police said in a release.
3 Democrats seek open Washtenaw County sheriff seat in August primary election
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Three Democrats are vying for the position of Washtenaw County sheriff in the Aug. 6 primary election. Alyshia Dyer, a social worker and former county sheriff’s deputy; Derrick Jackson, the sheriff’s director of community engagement; and Ken Magee, a consultant who once led the University of Michigan public safety department, are seeking to replace current Sheriff Jerry Clayton, who announced in 2022 he would not run for reelection. Clayton has served as the county’s sheriff since 2008.

WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – A millage that funds the Washtenaw County Conservation District is set to expire in 2025, but voters may elect to extend it in the August election. The proposal seeks to renew the current 0.020-mill tax for another six years, meaning it will expire in 2031.

A house in Ann Arbor that sold for $1.5 million tops the list of the most expensive residential real estate sales in Washtenaw County in the past week. Lucas County Coroner Thomas Blomquist and one of his office’s former deputy coroners agreed in court testimony Thursday that a 3-year-old boy’s October, 2022, death was caused by severe head and neck trauma, but they differed on whether he was a homicide victim.
