Actor Buddy Ebsen, who died at age 95 in 2003, found fame by starring in two of the most popular classic television shows in history: The Beverly Hillbillies (CBS, 1962 to 1971) and Barnaby Jones (CBS, 1973 to 1980). Sailing out of West Ocean City, Captain Monty Hawkins of Morning Star Fishing reported continuous good fishing across the board this week until a slight lull yesterday. A mostly clear and calm week of weather (before Tropical Storm Debby) brought quality keeper sea bass over the rail and plenty of shorts to keep things interesting. There were also a few nice mahi caught before air temperatures dropped a bit, and red hake (ling) continue to come over the rails in the mix with sea bass. The storm shouldn’t hang around too long, so give them a call to check availability of upcoming charters.

A superyacht capsized in the Chesapeake Bay near Washington, DC, forcing passengers to plunge into the water as it sank — and prompting a dramatic rescue, authorities said.

The splashy, 122-foot vessel, known as the Lovebug, began taking on water around 12:30 p.m. Saturday near Edgewater, Maryland, police and witnesses told CBS Baltimore.



Striking footage shows the $8 million superyacht — which docks at the Annapolis Yacht Club and costs $125,000 to charter per week — sinking on its side in a heavily traveled area near the mouth of the West River.

Our shop rigs are getting crushed by quality fish. Add some bait or your favorite soft plastics and you’re in. Even the beaches are loaded with quality fluke. Sea bass reports were the same from everyone—bigger fish are further out. With so many party boats in our waters, the local reefs and wrecks get picked clean quickly. Venture further out and try jigging instead of bait, some larger fish are getting pulled up. Bright-colored bucktails and slow-pitch jigs have been putting up numbers. At the local docks, snappers, kingfish, blowfish, and plenty of blue claw crabs are running around. So much fun for kids, and adults that like to be kids.”
