Report finds former Oolitic town clerk didn't deposit nearly $80k in utility payments
Former Lawrence County Auditor Jessica Staggs didn't deposit nearly $80,000 in utility payments when she was the city clerk in Oolitic, according to the Indiana State Board of Accounts. Staggs left her job in Oolitic after being elected auditor in 2021, but resigned from the position without explanation in December 2023.

23 year-old Bloomington man found dead in Owen County. The Owen County Sherrif’s Department has announced the death of 23 year-old Malik Sims, of Bloomington. Sims’ body was found on Monday on a gravel road near the Monroe and Owen County border. There is little which has been released regarding the incident at this point, including the cause of death. Any information which might be helpful in the ongoing investigation should be directed toward the Owen County Sherrifs Department.
