The Loomis Basin Heritage Foundation, interested in saving the historic fruit sheds in the heart of town, purchased them from Blue Anchor for $1 each. The price did not include the land they sat on, which was owned by the Union Pacific Railroad. The LBHF paid the monthly lease payments to the railroad. On July 17, California’s hub, a public-private partnership called ARCHES, became the first to negotiate an agreement with the Department of Energy to build out hydrogen power plants, pipelines, and other projects.
