Northern California forecast: Spectacular Sunday for most, but Park Fire continues to burn
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Another pleasantly cool morning across Northern California and temperatures this afternoon will remain below normal as well, albeit slightly warmer that Saturday. Winds will continue to be out the southwest, pulling in that cooler air, with a few gusts in the valley up to 20 mph. Similar conditions are on tap for Monday then temperatures begin to rise throughout the week, reaching 100 again by next weekend.
Looking Back, Loomis: 1999 - Heritage Foundation buys historic fruit sheds - for $1 each
The Loomis Basin Heritage Foundation, interested in saving the historic fruit sheds in the heart of town, purchased them from Blue Anchor for $1 each. The price did not include the land they sat on, which was owned by the Union Pacific Railroad. The LBHF paid the monthly lease payments to the railroad. What part the Town of Loomis would take in saving and developing the sheds was unknown. Several years ago, Blue Anchor offered two sheds and the railroad depot to the Town. Town council at that time turned down the offer.
