TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — An 83-year-old man has been missing for a week after his flight from Florida was canceled due to lingering issues from the CrowdStrike outage.

Patrick A. Bailey checked in for his flight out of Orlando International Airport on July 21, but the trip was canceled “due to lingering results from the CrowdStrike outage,” the Orlando Police Department said.

Elementary school principal arrested for DUI, fleeing Hillsborough deputies, officials say

“Bailey spent the night at a local hotel and checked out the following morning. However, he did not take a flight home,” police said on X . He hasn’t been heard from since.

NBC affiliate WESH spoke with Bailey’s son who said he’s “at a loss” trying to locate his father.

“We really are at a loss to figure out how to find him,” the man’s son, Patrick Bailey Jr., said.

Bailey Jr. said his father was flying home to Oregon after visiting his sister in Florida.

“He checked in his bags and then his flight got canceled with all the issues with the airlines,” his son said. “Nobody got any notices about him getting home. Nobody had heard from him.”

According to WESH, the 83-year-old’s family has also been unable to locate him through his cellphone.

“The problems really started because he forgot his cellphone at the hotel and we really don’t have any other ways of communicating with him or finding out where he is at,” Bailey Jr. said.

The airline Bailey Jr.’s father was supposed to take also said he didn’t get on the plane.

“He could have possibly taken another airline,” he said. “But he hasn’t shown up at home. We’ve had people check his house.”

The man’s son said his father became a long-haul truck driver after retiring from the Navy, so it’s possible he could’ve rented a car and made the drive home. However, the company the 83-year-old rented a car from while in the Sunshine State said he returned the rental and didn’t get a new one.

Additionally, Bailey Jr. said his dad was recently hospitalized with a back injury so he’s not sure if he could even manage the drive.

“I just don’t think he’s physically up for the drive of going all the way across the country with his current condition,” he said.

Bailey Jr. told WESH that police were checking with other rental car companies to track his father’s whereabouts, but he’s hoping someone will spot his dad soon.

“Hopefully this is all going to end well and we’re going to find him but it is a reminder that time is fleeting,” he said.

Anyone who sees Patrick Bailey is asked to contact the Orlando Police Department or call 911.

According to WESH, the man’s daughter said Louisiana police were trying to follow a lead in his disappearance, but no other details were provided.
