    6 Central Florida restaurants shut down last week amid health inspections

    Six Central Florida restaurants shut down the week of Aug. 4-10, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

    Orange

    Ms Tea’s Bento at 10376 E. Colonial Dr. Unit 126 in Orlando shut down on Aug. 7. Inspectors found 26 violations, six of which were a high priority. Those violations included an improperly stored container of medicine, rodent activity and raw food stored over ready-to-eat food in a freezer. A second inspection took place on Aug. 8. Officials found two violations but neither were a high priority. The restaurant met inspection standards.

    Los Brothers Latin Food at 5205 Edgewater Dr. Suite A in Orlando shut down on Aug. 7. Inspectors found 19 violations, six of which were a high priority. Those violations included an employee working with food before washing their hands, an employee not putting on gloves before working with food and an employee washing their hands with no soap. A second inspection occurred on Aug. 8. Officials found nine violations, two of which were time extensions for high priorities. A follow-up inspection is required but there is no immediate threat to the public.

    Taqueria Navarro 2 at 1206 W. Robinson St. in Orlando shut down on Aug. 8. Inspectors found three violations, one of which was a high priority for not having potable water. A second inspection occurred on Aug 9. There were no violations as the restaurant complied with the emergency order.

    Mama Lau va Oc LLC at 5038 W. Colonial Dr. in Orlando shut down on Aug. 8. Inspectors found 15 violations, six of which were a high priority. Those violations included rodent activity, a self-service buffet lacking adequate sneezeguards and a stop sale on food originating from an unproven source. A second inspection occurred on Aug. 10. Inspectors found 11 violations, three of which were a high priority. Officials gave extensions to the lack of adequate sneezeguards, the stop-sale on food and a missing vacuum breaker. The restaurant requires a follow-up inspection but there is no immediate threat to the public.

    Seminole

    La Fonda Mexican Kitchen at 1155 W. S.R. 434 Unit 161 in Longwood complied with an emergency order callback order on Aug. 8 despite not having a listed shutdown date on the state’s website. An administrative complaint was filed on Aug. 7, where inspectors found 18 violations, five of which were a high priority. Those violations included food not being consumed within seven days of preparation, roach activity and food held at the wrong temperatures. On Aug. 8, inspectors found four violations but none were a high priority. The restaurant met inspection standards.

    Volusia

    Hawaiian Inn Tiki Bar & Grill at 2301 S. Atlantic Ave. in Daytona Beach Shores shut down on Aug. 7. Inspectors found 22 violations, six of which were a high priority. Those violations included rodent activity, food held at the wrong temperature and a missing vacuum breaker at a threaded faucet. A second inspection occurred on Aug. 8. Officials found seven violations but none were a high priority. The restaurant met inspection standards.

    Complaints and warnings

    Orange County had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida, with 56.

    Volusia had 27, Brevard had 24, Seminole and Lake had 10 each, and Osceola had four.
