Colfax Restaurant Incubator Set To Open With Wild Ember Kitchen
After years of work and planning Colfax’s restaurant incubator is ready to open with its first tenant. Wild Ember Kitchen is set to have its grand opening on August 17th inside the old Washington Federal building on Main Street. The Colfax Downtown Association bought the building and remodeled it into a restaurant space. The organization is using funds from a 2.3 million dollar Washington State Department of Commerce grant to develop the restaurant incubator. That grant was allocated in the fall of 2022.

Cashmere Man Accused of Two Week Forgery, Indentity Theft Spree
A 24-year-old Cashmere man faces numerous charges after being tracked down and arrested by the Columbia River Drug Task Force. Dennis Mendez was wanted on an outstanding warrant from the Washington State Department of Corrections as well as multiple counts of Forgery and Identity Theft in Chelan and Douglas Counties.
Wenatchee Area Unemployment Report Shows Slowing Job Growth
The latest jobless numbers show the unemployment rate has dipped to just below 4 percent in the most recently reported month of June in Chelan and Douglas counties. The number is still more than half a point higher than the unemployment rate from a year ago. The 3.9% unemployment rate this June was six-tenths of a point above the 3.3% rate in June 2023.
Car Driver Airlifted To Wenatchee After SR 243 Head On With Semi
A car driver has serious injuries from a head-on crash with an 18-wheeler on State Route 243 about five miles north of Mattawa late Tuesday afternoon. The 18-wheeler was traveling southbound on the highway when it crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into an oncoming 2018 Subaru Forrester driven by 70-year-old Terri Haupt-Davis.
