Franklin County is grappling with a severe cat hoarding situation involving approximately 100 cats discovered on July 1, following the tragic death of their caretaker. The Justice Rescue animal shelter is at the forefront of addressing this emergency, revealing that the cats, both indoors and outdoors, have been deprived of necessary veterinary care, and none have been spayed or neutered.

CHAMBERSBURG BOROUGH MAYOR AUTHORIZES BURN BAN
Please be advised that Mayor Kenneth Hock, at the recommendation of Dustin Ulrich, Fire Chief and EMS Director, authorized a burn ban in the Borough of Chambersburg, effective Wednesday, June 26, 2024, through Monday, July 22, 2024. The Mayor declared the burn ban because of drier than normal temperatures, with no significant rainfall being forecast. On Monday, July 22, 2024, Town Council may by Resolution extend the burn ban.
