Holmes deputies find and secure 18-month-old child and parents who fled Wayne County
Holmes County deputies on Monday assisted the Wayne County Sheriff's Office locate and secure a Wooster couple and their 18-month old child who had fled the area. According to a report from Holmes County Sheriff Timothy Zimmerly, deputies were called around 6:21 p.m. Monday to assist in locating a child who was not turned over to Wayne County Children Services pursuant to a court order over concerns the family was homeless and living out of a vehicle.

Akron man receives life sentence for 2010 rape in Barberton
AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man currently in prison was sentenced to life Friday after he was convicted of the 2010 rape of a woman in Barberton. Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Alison McCarty also designated Derrick Fischer, 53, a Tier III sex offender, according to county Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich. McCarty also found Fischer guilty of a sexually violent predator specification, which allowed McCarty to increase the sentence for each count to 10-years-to-life.
Lorain man involved in two-county chase in stolen car facing felony charges
A Lorain man accused of driving a stolen Dodge Charger and led police on a two-county chase April 19 is now facing dual felony criminal charges. Darius Blakely, 26, of Euclid Avenue, was indicted Friday in Lorain County Common Pleas Court on charges of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and receiving stolen property, both felonies, and a misdemeanor charge of driving under suspension.
