Osawatomie gathering feedback about Comprehensive Plan 2040
OSAWATOMIE – Osawatomie city leaders have been busy gathering feedback about Comprehensive Plan 2040, which will help map out the community’s future. Members of the Osawatomie Planning and Zoning Commission have been working the past several months to prepare the foundation for the city’s first ever comprehensive plan, and the city has been releasing draft versions of each chapter to gather public feedback.
Osawatomie chamber donates funds to community garden
OSAWATOMIE – The Over the Rainbow Oz Community Garden recently got a financial boost from the Osawatomie Chamber of Commerce. Osawatomie Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jennifer Williams visited the community garden Thursday, June 27, to present a check for $1,105.32 to Over the Rainbow Community Garden Club board members and volunteers.

I bicycled almost the entire way from Council Grove to Osawatomie, Kansas, yesterday on the Flint Hills Trail, a dedicated recreation path. Almost—there was just one detour, a couple-three mile country-road bend around some trail reconstruction west of Ottawa. And thank goodness for that detour: It led me to Burtle the turtle.
Early-morning chase on Tuesday from Emporia to Ottawa area leads to arrests
EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) - A multi-county, early-morning chase that started in Emporia and ended near Ottawa resulted in at least two arrests, authorities said. The incident began around 4:04 a.m. Tuesday when Lyon County sheriff’s deputies, located a possible stolen black sport utility vehicle at W. 6th Avenue and Prairie Street in Emporia.
