Arrest made after pursuit Monday
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Monday at approximately 3:20 p.m., agents with the Department of Corrections Enforcement, Apprehension, and Investigation (EAI) Task Force located a wanted subject, James M. Smith, 36, of Hutchinson, near 11th Ave and Severance Street. Before they were able to make contact, Smith left the area in a vehicle and fled from officers with Hutchinson Police Department. Officers did not pursue Smith at that time due to Smith’s history of fleeing from law enforcement.

Young artists in Lawrence arts organization Van Go will soon unveil 21 custom benches they designed and painted. Van Go, which is also a social service and employment agency for youth, each summer carries out its Benchmark program for artists ages 14 to 18.
