US Army Corps of Engineers to update master plan for Almond Lake and the Arkport Dam
Land Classification changes could have big impact, public comment period open until August 14. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District (USACE- Baltimore) is in the process of updating the Master Plans for the USACE owned and operated Almond Lake and Arkport Dam. The purpose of the Almond Lake 2024 Master Plan and the Arkport Dam 2024 Master Plan is to provide guidance for stewardship of natural resources and management for long-term public access to, and use of, the natural resources at Almond Lake and Arkport Dam, including the land classification of the USACE-managed lands. Land classifications are established in the 2024 Master Plans and are fundamental to project land management. Land classifications provide for development and resource management consistent with authorized purposes and other federal laws. The 2024 Master Plans provide a comprehensive description of the USACE project, a discussion of factors influencing resource management and development, new resource management objectives, a synopsis of public involvement and input into the planning process, descriptions of existing development, and considerations of future development activities.
Langworthy Announces A Grant For The County IDA
Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) has announced a $75,000 grant for the Steuben County Industrial Development Agency’s (IDA) Route 54 Industrial Site Analysis in Bath, New York. This grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), matched by $75,000 in local funds, will support the pre-development site analyses necessary to attract advanced manufacturing companies to Steuben County.

A New York state motorcycle driver and a passenger were seriously injured Sunday in a crash on Route 660 in Tioga County, Pa., about five miles south of Mansfield. Patrick Woodward, suspect in Elmira armed burglary, will serve 3 years in prison
One of three suspects charged in connection with an armed burglary in January in the City of Elmira will serve three years in prison for his role in the crime. Patrick Woodard, 24, of Elmira, was also sentenced in Chemung County Court this week to three years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty June 3 to a count of second-degree attempted burglary.
