Local family reunion turns into service project to help others
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- What started as a family reunion has turned into a way to help others. The Maloney and Coseo families started a project in October of 2023 to help the less fortunate in the Elmira area. 18 family members agreed to buy 60 personal care items each, and now there are more than 1,200 items to be given away.

George F. Cobin, 81, Angelica
George F. Cobin age 81 of Mechanic Street, passed away on Tuesday (July 16, 2024) at UR St James Hospital in Hornell. George was born in Birdsall on September 29, 1942 the son of Hugh Cobin and Betty Seeley Cobin, was graduate of Angelica Central School, and had served in the National Guard. He had worked for Sands Auto Glass delivering out of Buffalo and several other places for 30 years and then opened his own shop called “George’s Glass Shop in Angelica, and had also delivered for the Angelica Bakery for many years with his wife Jean. They were married in 1965, and she predeceased him on May 12, 2022. George enjoyed fishing, mowing lawns (had to be a John Deere his favorite), woodworking, family cookouts especially at the Mt Morris Dam, and his son Brent’s pavilion. He had been very active in Boy Scouting, and had also been an active participant in the Angelica Ambulance, and Angelica Fire Department.
