Five happy couples celebrate 64th anniversaries together
HUBBARD LAKE — Five local couples recently met up to celebrate their 64th anniversaries together for their annual summer celebration at Churchill Pointe Inn. The couples have all been friends for nearly 30 years, from when they had all moved to Northeast Michigan. They all have been lucky enough to be married to their spouses for 64 years.
Life jackets available to borrow for free in Tawas City

Kindergarten graduation
HALE- On June 6, the kindergarten class graduated. They were all so excited and happy to be done with school but for the parents they were sad seeing their little kid growing up. The 2024 graduating class this year walked the graduating kindergarten class out to their seats. Each kid was called up and they received their kindergarten diploma. After each kid received their diploma, they moved their tassel to the other side and were done with kindergarten. At the end of the ceremony there was a class video played of the kindergartens throughout the year and the video will be posted on the Hale Schools website.

HALE- As the softball season came into pre-districts, we looked back at the season with fondness of our girls softball team. This season of softball was built with collaboration, leadership, and unity. The coaches Jeremy Beebe and Robin Vance created a team of companionship that is unforgettable. Now that our season has ended, we say goodbye to our seniors and thank them for their friendship, hard work, and determination. Our seniors are Erica Bernard, pitcher, Felicity Hicks, first baseman, Anna Koepke, left fielder, Laken Caverly, second baseman, and Savannah Jones, who plays center field and right field.
Sandy Oesterling, 80, of East Tawas
Sandra “Sandy” A. Oesterling, of East Tawas, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas City, age 80 years. Sandy was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 31st, 1943 to the late Anthony Joseph and Jane Louise (Piscopink) Licari. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Wayne, Michigan. Sandy married her husband and best friend, Robert “Bob” Oesterling, on April 10, 1965 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne. Sandy and Bob were married nearly 55 years until Bob’s passing in 2020.
