Team USA's Brody Malone overcomes devastating injury for second Olympic berth
SARASOTA, Fla. — U.S. Women's Gymnastics has won a medal in the Team All-Around competition in eight straight Olympics. However, the U.S. Men haven't brought how any hardware in the team event since 2008. The Stars and Stripes will try to change that this summer in Paris, led by Sarasota-based gymnast Brody Malone.
Sarasota Athlete of the Week: Ava DiPasquale
Ava DiPasquale is a 12-year-old swimmer with the Sarasota Tsunami. DiPasquale won the 100-meter butterfly (1:07.44), the 200-meter butterfly (2:31.76), the 200-meter backstroke (2:34.48), the 200-meter individual medley (2:26.96) and the 400-meter freestyle (4:37.77) at the Florida Summer Age Groups Championships, or FLAGS, held July 11-14 in Ocala. According to Tsunami Head Coach Ira Klein, DiPasquale's 200 IM time is the second-fastest in the country this year for her age group, while her 400 freestyle is third, her 100 butterfly is sixth and her 200 butterfly is eighth.

Time to register for the 13th Annual Tour de North Port
Registration is now open for the 13th Annual Tour de North Port, “It’s the Green Pumpkin!” a scenic on-road organized bicycle ride fundraiser that will take place Sunday, October 20. It is NOT a race! Choose a route of 15, 35 or 65 miles that takes you around North Port. Group starts begin at 8am from Imagine School, 2757 Sycamore St., North Port. Included in your fee is breakfast, lunch, fully stocked rest stops, Support and Gear (SAG), SWAG bag and a t-shirt. Register by Wednesday, July 31 for $50, then the price rises as the date nears. Red House Streaming Paddles Upstream with Live Rowing Competitions
ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. — CP Communications’ Red House Streaming stacked the deck this spring with live exclusive rowing event productions for broadcast on RHStv, Red House Streaming’s FAST (free ad supported television) streaming network. Between March and May, Red House Streaming produced five rowing competitions that were streamed live on RHStv from Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, with nearly 600,000 unique viewers tuning in for the five events.
Women's Soccer: Lakewood Ranch's Erika Tymrak leading Tampa Bay Sun FC of USL Super League

Tymrak, the National Women’s Soccer League veteran and Lakewood Ranch native, was one of the first three signees to Tampa Sun FC.
