The Sarasota Ballet Director Iain Webb receives National Dance Award
The Sarasota Ballet has announced that Director Iain Webb was awarded the 2024 British National Dance Award for Outstanding Achievement. Graham Watts and Dame Monica Mason presented the De Valois Award for Outstanding Achievement to Webb at The Coronet Theatre in London last month. The Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle, which comprises more than 60 dance writers and critics, is responsible for this stellar recognition of Webb’s vigor and dedication to dance. For 2024, there were 311 companies, choreographers, performers and other creative artist nominees. The National Dance Awards have been organized by the Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle each year since 2000.
Top residential real estate sales for July 1-5 in Longboat, Lido, St. Armands, Bird Key
A home on Bird Key tops all transactions in this week’s real estate. William and Patricia Geyer, trustees, of Sarasota, sold the home at 443 E. Royal Flamingo Drive to Bill and April Ann McEntee, of Saddle River, New Jersey, for $5.7 million. Built in 1977, it has three bedrooms, four baths, a pool and 3,426 square feet of living area. It sold for $3,045,000 in 2006.

Holiday traffic frustration prompts two road rage incidents
10:52 p.m., North Polk Avenue at John Ringling Boulevard. Road rage: A battery call turned out to be a case of road rage between drivers of two vehicles stuck in holiday traffic. An officer arrived on the scene to find one man, who was shirtless and disheveled, advising that he and his family were stuck in eastbound traffic at John Ringling Boulevard as they approached North Polk Avenue. That’s when he noticed a Chevrolet Malibu facing northbound, attempting to merge into eastbound traffic and exited his vehicle to impede its progress “to the chagrin of the Malibu occupants,” the incident reports reads.
