Leech Lake Youth RALLY starting at WHA School
Reclaiming and Advancing Leech Lake Youth (RALLY) is a new community-based youth substance misuse and suicide prevention coalition initiated by the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley School District and sponsored by the MN Department of Health. RALLY will be hosting four community asset mapping gatherings — one in Walker, one in Akeley, one in Onigum and one in Hackensack. The first gathering is Nov. 17 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the WHA Commons. A Sunday supper will be served as the group connects and learns about available youth supports in the Walker community. All are invited and encouraged to attend. City will not limit number of cannabis retailers in Aitkin
Council members hashed out their opinions on cannabis and potential rules and regulations at the Aitkin City Council meeting Oct. 21. There must be at least one retail location for every 12,500 residents according to state law. Deep Portage ‘Meet Us in the Forest’ event brings in nearly $10k
The Cass County Board of Commissioners received an annual update on Deep Portage Environmental Learning Center, learning nearly 4,500 students arrived from 70 schools to gain an understanding of the great outdoors this year.
