    Wildfire quietly grows to more than 5,000 acres in southwest Colorado

    A fire that sparked in Colorado on May 14 has quietly grown to more than 5,000 acres over recent days.

    According to InciWeb , the Spruce Creek Fire has burned 5,699 acres roughly 11 miles northeast of Dolores at last report – up from a Thursday report of 4,962 acres being burned by the blaze. No evacuation orders have been issued at this time. The Town of Dolores is located in southwest Colorado, about 36 miles northwest of Durango.

    At last report, the fire was at 38 percent containment. Firefighters have been able to successfully use Forest Service Roads as firelines, with more than 170 personnel involved in fighting the blaze.
