An unleashed, 150-pound dog injured at least two people in east Colorado Springs on Saturday, law enforcement officials said.

At about 12:20 p.m., police received an urgent assistance call from the Colorado Springs Fire Department, according to a blotter entry. A large dog was loose and attacking people in the 5000 block of Whip Trail, near North Carefree Circle and Oro Blanco Drive.

Officers found the canine, a Great Pyrenees mountain dog, and chased it around the neighborhood before finally corralling it in a courtyard, police said. Humane Society law enforcement officers used an animal snare to control the dog and remove it from the scene.

Two adults sustained minor injuries in the incident. Police said both people knew the dog and its owner.

The Humane Society contacted the owner and is investigating the incident. Information on the dog’s status was not immediately available. No charges were announced.
