National coffee chain Dutch Bros wants to expand in Johnson County with two new locations.

The Oregon-based company — serving blended coffees, breves, cold brews, iced lattes, energy drinks and more — is eyeing spots in Overland Park, according to city documents.

The first is at 9721 Metcalf Ave., where Sears once operated. The second will be in the Prairiefire district at 135th Street and Nall Avenue. An address is not available.

Owners of either pad sites could not be immediately reached Monday.

Popular menu items at Dutch Bros include its Carmelizer, a blended mocha coffee, and the Golden Eagle: a vanilla and caramel breve with caramel drizzle.

The coffee company has more than a dozen locations in the Kansas City area, including ones in Olathe at 11220 S. Lone Elm Road, 14075 W 135th St. and 15170 S Mahaffie St. There are none in Overland Park.

Dutch Bros recently opened a location in Lawrence at 2531 Iowa St.

Meanwhile, more out-of-state drive-thru coffee shops are expanding in the Kansas City market.

Texas-based 151 Coffee completed construction of its first metro location, at 9180 Metcalf Ave., near the potential Dutch Bros location.

It also submitted plans earlier this year to open at 12005 Metcalf Ave., the former spot of a Mo’ Bettahs.

Arkansas’ 7 Brew Coffee entered the market in 2022. It now has five locations in the metro, including at 11001 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park.
